| Well… It seems I’m 2 for 2 in the A&S Comp stakes… Last year I entered my Drakkar coins in the Innilgard’s First Mates Tourney A&S Tourney. This year, I entered Katje’s and Finn’s Coronets as virtual entries, and it seems they won, just beating out La Signora Onorata Katerina da Brescia by 1 point. Maybe these two successful entries will inspire me to enter other A&S comps in Lochac, as I seem to be picking the same comp each year. This does kind of bring up an interesting thought though. Is sending in entries for local competitions in other groups a polite thing to do? Lady Kat seems more than happy to have my entries, however how do the locals feel about their local comps being invaded from people who can’t even be bothered to show up? |

I’d be disinclined to do it in groups where I had no contact or connection, but given that you’ve won in Innilgard twice in a row now, I think they’d be annoyed at you if you didn’t enter again there… I’d suggest not doing it at an Anealan event, for example, unless there was an invitation from the appropriate people (always possible in that case, given that the Baroness’s Bit of Fluff is a friend of yours), or at a River Haven event unless it was a baronial coronet competition, or at a St Gildas event unless it was explicitly advertised as open to people from other baronies, etc etc etc. And come to think of it, that last one might be a good idea for a group to try if they’re having trouble getting a suitable calibre of entries!
Which is why I think my entries were desired at Innilgard, Lady Kat seemed keen to at least get enough entries to make it a valid competition.
Personally I think that if groups are having issues with that, then they should let Lochac know that their A&S Comp is open to anyone from Lochac. The first time I entered the First Mates tourney, I did actually send Lady Kat an email asking if they would accept posted entries from out of area, luckily she seemed keen to get the entry.
I take it you might have entered a few A&S comps in other area’s before?
I was going to admit that I’ve never entered an A&S comp, but then I remembered that bardic A&S comps count, and I’ve entered a few of those, and won most. Never long-distance though (ie sending my stuff to be judged in my absence) because I’m primarily a performer, not a researcher.
