Time to be disapointed….

Life is disappointing me…  That book I wanted is no longer available from the publisher, and that the publisher has yet to release a date when they will be.  Which basically means I have been told, that it won’t be reprinted.

If anyone comes across a copy of Pilgrim Souvenirs and Secular Badges by Brian Spencer for anything less that $90 Australian, could you please let me know.  Amazon prices are greatly inflated as the dealers now know it’s unavailable.

  1. You might already have looked at this site, but I have found very-hard-to-locate books here: http://www.ilab.org/

Along with the other usual suspects, there’s also Time books in south-eastern Melbourne (they are an online business found at http://www.timebooksellers.com.au). I went out there and their collection of strange and rare books is amazing – and the staff are excellent. And there’s Books and Collectibles (booksandcollectibles.com.au).

I usually just google the ISBN to get as many hits as I can; I suspect you’ve already done that. Problem is, you don’t always find the book that way, even when it is for sale somewhere.

Good luck finding it – I love it when I locate a book after which I’ve been hankering.

  2. Hey there! :) Cool, thanks for those links. :) I did try googling the ISBN, but just ended up with sellers trying to make a mint off the fact that it’s no longer in print. ;)

BTW… Talking of books, did you find your copy of Woven into the Earth at one of those links too? :) Thinking of getting a copy of that too. :)

    Hugs!

  3. Alternatively, read the copyright act in relation to out of print works. Then go to local library and request an ILL. Scan book.
Total cost $13.20 and a few hours time.

  4. I got Woven into the Earth from PJ Dogan, Uralla, NSW. The email I have for them is pdogan@bigpond.net.au. (that was on the invoice – don’t ask why I remember these things). I think I originally found them on either http://www.biblio.com, abebooks (either .uk.co or .com) or most likely, Books and Collectibles.

That was one out the box I think – I paid only about $65 and $10 postage – it retails in Denmark for 400DKK ($100) and I could not get it much cheaper than $80 anywhere. But I recently referred someone else to PJ Dogan for the same book, so you never know; they might have placed an order for a few copies.

  5. Now thats a great idea!!! But, I think the actual issue is that that the publisher has classed them as pending reprint. But I shall certainly look into that option. :) Thanks. :)

  6. >Pending reprint.

Ah. It that case my suggestion would be ultra illegal. Patience is a virtue.

  7. Patience yes. ;)

Although sending out loads of emails is good too.. I just found a copy and purchased it for $94 + Postage… A little more than I was happy with… but for an almost 400 page book that has the kind of detail I want, I’m happy to pay it…

    Yippee!!!!

P.S. Anyone else wanting a copy… the supplier has another copy and is willing to sell it for the same price.
